Our alumni play a key role in helping recruit a strong and diverse incoming class of students each year. There are many ways to get involved in these efforts, from attending events locally and nationally, serving on an alumni panel, and being profiled on the website, to personally calling or emailing individual prospective and admitted students.
Be a Guest Speaker
Alumni can help students better understand the challenges and responsibility that comes with being a practicing attorney. Guest speakers help to expose students to a variety of practitioners and their areas of practice.
Our alumni also play a key role by serving as networking contacts, speakers, panelists, and mock-interviewers to assist current students with their career exploration and job searches.
Each year, educational institutions across the country honor the signing of the United States Constitution with special programming about the iconic document and its signing on Sept. 17, 1787, as well as the meaning of citizenship today.
The St. Mary’s University School of Law has developed a program to connect Texas educators with the resources they need to fulfill the federal mandate requiring education on the topic during the week of Sept. 17. You can find more information on the Constitution Day page.
Host an Alumni Event
Alumni hosts sponsor and promote a wide variety of activities to strengthen ties between St. Mary’s Law students, alumni and the school. Events include social gatherings, newly admitted student receptions, as well as many networking opportunities for alumni, faculty, and current students, both at the school and regionally. If you would like to sponsor an alumni event or gathering in your area, please contact the Law Advancement Office at least 2 months before your proposed event date so that we can help you organize and market the event.
Judge a Student Competition
Law students are encouraged to refine their lawyering skills by participating in student competitions that enhance legal writing, dispute resolution, interviewing, and counseling skills. Alumni play an important role by volunteering as judges for moot court competitions and other competitions.
Join the Reunion Committee
